Managers Views
“With pre-season now well underway the memories of last year’s disappointments are behind us and efforts to improve both on and off the pitch have been excellent.
We have changed the structure of the First Team Management team and I have welcomed Lee Webber as Player-Coach. Lee played for the club when he was 18 before leaving to play in the League of Wales. Along with experience he also has a UEFA ‘C’ coaching licence which is already paying off with the excellent pre-season training sessions we have enjoyed.
We have also replaced our traditional Third Team with an Academy side that will will play in the local St Helens Combination. Managed by Billy Tierney, who has experience of managing at a junior level, we are hoping to blend young players with more experienced players to help us develop players for the future.
We have also invested heavily in painting the ground and upgrading our playing facilities.
Pre-season games have also provided some good tests with games against League of Wales teams allowing us all to develop. Equally there have been some impressive wins against teams of equal level to ourselves.
Our preparation for the forthcoming season has been excellent and we are
all looking forward to the big kick-off on Saturday 14th August.
Frist Team Manager, Ste Palfrey, played for our First Team for 15 years before taking over the management of the Reserve Team in 2006. He led them to
the Reserve Division title in 2009
and
was appointed First Team Manager at
the beginning of the 2009/2010 season.
